For Allan McNish, Formula 1 “didn’t necessarily have a clear direction”

Dominated by a limited number of teams in recent years, Formula has lost part of its enchantment which made it one of the most followed disciplines in the world. A detail that former pilot Allan McNish regrets.

“I think that the Formula 1, until now, has not necessarily had a clear direction. I didn't know if it was meant to be entertainment for the fan in the stands or for the fan watching on TV. And she wasn't sure whether she wanted to keep up with the technology of the auto industry or not.

For the three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the premier category of motorsport must change in the years to come to return to the heights of the time: “It must be very clear about its DNA and very clear about its vision for the future. (…) Formula 1 is still strong, it is not weak, but I think it needs direction for the future to ensure its long-term viability.” Enough to pique the actors of F1.
