Almost two months after the events, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the coronation of Max Verstappen are still so much talked about and even beyond the F1. This time it is Sébastien Ogier who was invited to evoke the famous episode where Lewis Hamilton lost his 8th world title to the Dutchman in the final round of the 2021 season.
« It sure must have been very, very difficult for him to take. He really felt like he was robbed... He was robbed, let's not be afraid of words, on the last race, indicated the eight-time world rally champion. No but, even if I have a lot of respect for Max Verstappen and he didn't steal his title, he had a great season, and both deserved to be champions, but it's true that in the last week -end… »
Brought to develop his explanation, Sébastien Ogier did not hide his incomprehension concerning the decision taken by the race management to restart the Grand Prix for a final lap while the latecomers had not yet caught up with the peloton. “ The problem is that there was a race where Lewis dominated, he was in front until the end, and then unfortunately for him, a few laps from the finish, there was this famous Safety Car and we made them to leave again, finally... It happens, but... No, but the truth is that one or the other were fine champions, but it's true that in terms of the appearance of that weekend, it was a theft and It's hard for Hamilton to take, » concludes the Habs who “understands” the total silence of Lewis Hamilton since December 12.

Since this final, the FIA has opened an investigation into the end of the race and has explained this Saturday January 29 « that no decision has been made regarding the conclusion of the ongoing detailed analysis regarding the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. As previously announced, the findings of this investigation will be presented to the F1 Commission in London (Great Britain) on February 14, after an open discussion between all F1 drivers. These conclusions will then have to be approved by the World Council on March 18 in Bahrain, under the authority of the President of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem."

Stolen is a big word, Mercedes is at fault for having left its driver on the track instead of taking advantage of racing incidents like Red Bull to change the tires. No one asked any questions about the miracle engine that made the Mercedes taxi's last races, a thoroughbred that once again beat the Red Bull without the possibility of catching up. It is the race and the strategy that can distort a result. Like an ugly stone that decides a victory in a rally.

We clearly recognize Sébastien OGIER there with his outspokenness! Too bad there was no red flag... which may not have changed the final result! I'm not sure we'll ever see LH again in an F1 if the regulations don't change!!
