Why Isack Hadjar could perform in Spielberg?

Despite not scoring any points at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal, Isack Hadjar appears to have passed the test of discovery across the Atlantic. In Spielberg, the Frenchman returns to familiar territory.

Two weeks ago, at a press conference, they were unanimous in declaring Isack Hadjar the most impressive rookie so far this season. Among the drivers who subscribed to this version, Kimi Antonelli was quick to praise his counterpart, despite being directly involved in the debate. Although a few days later, one climbed onto the first podium of his career while the other finished the race outside the points zone, the progress made by Isack Hadjar could well be revealed even more on a circuit where he has already shone in the past.

“The weekend in Canada was very difficult. The car was difficult to get to grips with over one lap, but we still managed to qualify for Q3., he recalled this Thursday at a press conference. Over 70 laps, it was a different story… We suffered on the medium tires with a lot of degradation. We were on the wrong side of the pack battle, which is not usual.

A good memory for Hadjar in F2

Seventh on the starting grid for the race of Formula 2 in 2024 on Red Bull Ring, Isack Hadjar had managed to reach the podium thanks to a race well led by the Tricolore. "I like this circuit. I was competitive in F2 last year, but in F1, it's different. Everything is faster, it's like it's a new circuit. The first sector is very technical, and the others after that are very fast. It's a good challenge." he rejoiced.

Claiming that Racing Bulls could regain its competitiveness on European circuits, as was the case in Barcelona in particular, the Formula 2 runner-up intends to get back into the points zone on a track where the gaps could once again be minimal. With the lap record set at just over a minute, the 20 drivers were separated by just seven-tenths of a second last year at the end of Q1. Is this enough to put Hadjar on the right side of the pack battle?

@Lucas Paul: I'm not a particular fan of Isack Hadjar, but it's clear that considering the equipment each has, he's the most surprising, even if he hasn't yet had (and probably won't have) Antonelli's results. It's still easier to get on the podium with a Mercedes than with a Racing Bulls, Hass, Sauber or a Alpine, isn't it? Just compare the other rookies to their respective teammates (all more experienced) to see that he is the only one ahead of his own (even if Lawson is not worth Russel, Ocon, Hulkenberg. Gasly). If we follow your reasoning, Hamilton is really bad and overrated because he has never been on a Grand Prix podium since his arrival at Ferrari...

Dear French journalist friends, stop saying that Hadjar is the best rookie of the year....he comes well after Andréa Kimi Antonelli, who has already been on the front line, and made a podium in Canada!! When your little Frenchman has done the same, you will be able to say that he is becoming a very good driver.......
