First look at 2017 Pirelli tires

2017 must mark a profound change in technical regulations in Formula 1, with single-seaters revised aerodynamically and offering increased dimensions, to make the cars more spectacular and efficient.

In line with this technical renewal, Pirelli will introduce new compounds with dimensions also increased compared to the 2016 tires (from 245 to 350 mm at the front, i.e. +25%, and from 325 to 405 mm at the rear, i.e. +30%). The Milanese firm has lifted the veil on a first glimpse of these famous 2017 tires, on the sidelines of the Monaco Grand Prix.

The wheel size will remain at 13″, but Pirelli, which had already carried out a demonstration in 18″, remains open to carrying out research on larger sizes in the future, as mentioned in the press release.

Pirelli should benefit from more testing sessions in order to develop its new equipment, with dedicated days from the month of May with single-seaters from 2012, 2013 and 2014 initially boarding prototype elements, then 25 days (from the month of August) with single-seaters using prototype tires in 2017 dimensions.
