Arrived on January 10 at the premises of Mercedes in Brackley (England), George Russell discovers his new workplace and gradually integrates into his new habitat. So a few days before the presentation of the W13 and the first pre-season tests in Barcelona (February 23-25), the teammate of Lewis Hamilton spoke for the first time in its new colors.

«It's a really special feeling to be an official Mercedes driver, but at the same time a bit strange, confides George Russell. We spent a lot of time together when I was an Academy pilot. In a way, it's a feeling of coming home to people you've known for a long time.

Thanks to the academy, I feel like I know everyone here. No need for presentations, we deal directly with the work we need to do to understand the new car, the new challenges and prepare as best as possible for the coming season. On the simulator, my first impressions with the W13 are interesting, it's a very different car.»

When it comes to his hopes and expectations for the upcoming campaign, the pilot remains quite down to earth: “ The goals for the upcoming season are to get the most out of myself and the team around me. I don't think you can set values or targets, because you don't know what the car is worth before the first race. However, we can set small goals that will allow us to improve ourselves and improve the car. If we work little by little, we give ourselves a better chance of getting there in the end.»

See you on February 18 to discover it next to the new Mercedes W13 and from February 23 on the Barcelona circuit for the first winter tests.
