Significant progress for de Villota

Nine days after Maria de Villota's accident during a straight-line test session at Duxford in the south of England, the Marussia F1 Team communicated on the state of health of its driver.

According to the terms used in the press release from the Russian team, Maria de Villota is making remarkable progress. The Spanish pilot was released from the critical neurological treatment center on Monday and no longer requires sedatives.

De Villota underwent two head surgeries last week. Despite the loss of her right eye, the Spaniard is making small progress every day. She woke up last Sunday and was able to talk to her family.
