Prost: The season is becoming too unpredictable

Renault Sport F1 had invited Alain Prost to discover the Renault concept car Alpine A110 presented yesterday on the Monaco circuit. On this occasion, the quadruple world champion looked back on the F1 season which has so far seen five different drivers and teams win in five races, a first in almost 30 years. “From my point of view, I would say maybe it’s a little too unpredictable. You know F1 and you would like to understand a little better what's going on. But F1 has changed and the public watching F1 has changed too. We cannot compare the discipline to what it was 10, 20 or 30 years ago. The public is now happy not to always see the same driver or the same car. The domination of one car or one driver is the worst thing that can happen to F1. I can understand that the audience goes up with this. »

Alain Prost adds that the turn of the Championship forces the teams and drivers to adapt accordingly. If consistency will be the key to winning the title this season, the Professor believes that Jenson Button has the best chance of achieving it. “I think this situation must be a real nightmare for the mechanics and engineers, but at least we have a spectacle. Different potential winners encourages more consistency, but it's a different approach if you have a rival and are fighting against him. You have to be constantly in the points this season. Victory is sometimes necessary, but above all you have to finish and be consistent. Before the first race of the season, I had bet on Jenson Button to win the Championship, but today I don't know. Let's still bet on Jenson because he could be the most consistent of the year. »
