Faced with criticism of the elimination qualifying format, the FIA president will meet in the paddock of the Bahrain Grand Prix with the teams to discuss possible solutions.
“I'm here to attend a meeting this Sunday after being able to watch the two qualifiers (in Melbourne and Bahrain)”, explained Jean Todt. “We will try to find viable solutions that can be unanimously elected for the Chinese Grand Prix (on April 17). We will look to improve the format without returning to the old version used until 2015."
Jean Todt notably considered bringing an additional set of tires for the drivers during qualifying and launching the drivers onto the track one after the other in order to constantly have activity during the sessions.
