When Gasly battles with Vettel and Hamilton: “It was a great race”

This was the striking image of the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix… at least we assume so, because the sequence was never broadcast during the broadcast of the event! The passing of arms between Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) and Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) demonstrated the combativeness of the Frenchman as the German came out of the pits under his nose after the only Monegasque pit-stop.

“It was very close between Seb and me going up towards the Casino bend, I was quite surprised to see him and there was maybe just enough room to fit a finger between our tires, but it was a great race”, laughed Pierre Gasly. The winner of the 2020 Italian Grand Prix also distinguished himself in now Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes in his mirrors.

“It wasn't easy, I couldn't make any mistakes and I just had to concentrate on my own race in front of me, but I really enjoyed this duel,” commented the Norman, who thus signed his best result of the year after five rounds contested in sixth place.

This performance restores morale to the Habs, who move up to ninth place in the Drivers rankings. “The car performed well in Monaco, although I think we could have done better and there are certainly areas where we still need to improve compared to some of the rival cars. However, I am satisfied with this result, it was important for us to get back near the front. »
