Quarantine confirmed for entry into Britain

The British government, via Interior Minister Priti Patel, yesterday formalized the establishment of a quarantine for people entering British territory to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

A measure, from which truck drivers, medical personnel and travelers from Ireland will be exempt, but no mention of high-level athletes including pilots. F1. A decision which could therefore call into question the holding of the races planned at Silverstone.

Despite this confirmation, those responsible for the English circuit maintain a certain form of optimism. “ It is a very complex sport because it is a world championship with enormous logistics, recalls Stuart Pringle, director of the Silverstone complex, on Sky Sports F1.

F1 therefore needs to know if it can undertake its global travels, leave and then return to its bases. I know that the importance of the industry is heard by the government. I remain very optimistic that they will find a way.

I'm very, very aware that it's extremely complicated to write these things and work under ever-changing deadlines. This is not a task I would like to undertake. I therefore remain optimistic that a sensible and pragmatic solution can be found. »

Asked about the possibility of pushing back a possible date, Stuart Pringle mentions the end of August or even the month of September. Remember that Liberty Media had indicated that it wanted to launch its season in Europe until the beginning of September, before heading to other continents
