The manufacturer of the Formula 1Pirelli has revealed the various possible strategies for the Chinese GP. According to the Italian supplier, teams will have two pit stops in Shanghai and three strategies to choose from, with most using the hardest tires possible. In the Sprint, tire degradation on the Medium tires was higher than expected.

The first two strategies proposed by Pirelli are relatively similar, with a start on Medium tires and a first stop around lap 17 to switch to Hard tires. Then, two options are possible: the first with a stop on around lap 35 and a finish on Hard tires, or a pit stop on around lap 37 to finish on Medium tires. Finally, a third strategy is possible with a start on Soft tires for more traction when the lights go out. In this case, the other two stints will be on Hard tires, with a first stop around lap 11 and a second stop around lap 31.

Regarding the remaining sets of tires for the Chinese GP, all drivers – with the exception of Aston Martin – still have at least one unused set of Medium tires. However, all drivers are perfectly equal when it comes to Hard tires: all have two sets of new Hard tires. Finally, the drivers eliminated before Q3 still have a few new Soft tires available to try their luck in the event of a Safety Car, for example.

As a reminder, Pirelli brought the middle of its range of tires to China for the Shanghai track: the C2 (hard), the C3 (medium) and the C4 (soft).
