The manufacturer of the Formula 1Pirelli has revealed the various possible strategies for the Miami GP. According to the Italian supplier, the teams are expected to opt for a one-stop strategy in Florida, on a circuit where degradation is not very high. However, the weather could change things, with a significant risk of rain in Miami this Sunday, the day after a wet sprint race.
If the race remains dry, Pirelli offers no fewer than four different possible strategies, including two one-stop and two two-stop strategies, which are supposed to be slower. These are ranked from fastest to least efficient, according to the tire supplier.
- Strategy #1 at a stop : Start on Medium tires, stop around the 22th lap to put on Hard tires.
- Strategy #2 at a stop : Start on Hard tires, stop around the 35th lap to put on Medium tires.
- Two-Stop Strategy #3 : Start on Medium tires, 1st stop around the 15th lap to put on Hard tires, 2nd stop around the 37th lap to put on Hard tires.
- Two-Stop Strategy #4 : Start on Soft tires, 1st stop around the 11th lap to put on Hard tires, 2nd stop around the 34th lap to put on Hard tires.
In terms of remaining tire sets for the Miami GP, all drivers still have at least one unused set of Medium and Hard tires, with the exception of Fernando Alonso et Carlos SainzThe two Spaniards no longer have new Medium tires, only already run-in tires.
As a reminder, Pirelli brought the softest tires in its range to Miami on the Florida track: the C3 (hard), the C4 (medium) and the C5 (soft).
