“Something is not working compared to 2019” says Verstappen

From an RB15 which had played the leading roles for first place on the Hungaroring turnstile, to an RB16 struggling in Q3 this Saturday afternoon, twelve months have passed. But Max Verstappen does not understand the lack of performance of its car today in qualifying.

After finishing on the podium at the Styrian Grand Prix a week ago, the Dutchman was beaten, albeit narrowly, by both Ferrari in an exercise that he likes and finds himself far from both Mercedes and the two Racing Points.

"I don't know why but it's clear that something is not working compared to last year where we had a very good balance with the car on this track, Verstappen analyzes.

It's been a pretty tricky weekend in general so far, it's hard to understand why as we've changed a lot of things but it doesn't seem to have saved us much more time over a lap.

Here you really need a stable car that is very grippy in the second sector, but we just don't have the right balance with oversteer and understeer. »

“There are unexpected behaviors on the cars and we need to quickly understand the cause. » underlines Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing who couldn't count on Alex Albon in Q3, eliminated from Q2 with a lot of traffic in front of the Thai driver.
