Who is well placed for pole at Imola? AUTOhebdo's bets

After only 90 minutes of free driving, the drivers are preparing to dive into a qualifying session which could well hold a few surprises due to the reduced preparation time.

Hamilton untouchable?

We are not going to play the flute for you but the pilot Mercedes announces himself as the big favorite of this qualifying session, hence a necessarily low rating at 1,40*. While he is generally very adept at getting into the rhythm on new circuits, his teammate Valtteri Bottas clocked in at almost half a second this morning at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari. Is the Finn capable of “doing a Hamilton”, namely reversing the trend in “money time” to blow away pole position from his impregnable neighbor in the garage? This little feat could earn you 3,25* your stake.

Verstappen in ambush

For several meetings already, the Dutch crack has continued to chip away at the lead enjoyed by the invincible Mercedes in qualifying this season. Loyal to the forefront during the only free session of the Imola weekend, the driver Red Bull is best placed to break the hegemony of the Brackley pilots (United Kingdom). With a rating of 7,25*, Verstappen's pole is potentially much more profitable than a best time set by one of his Mercedes rivals. If you have the soul of an attacker like the Flying Dutchman, know that the Red Bull pole odds set at 7,00*. Enough to make you want to put all your eggs in one basket.

Madness gasly

FrenchAlpha Tauri continues to impress in 2020 with 4th fastest time in free practice at the Emilia-Romagna GP. So yes on paper, the Norman has no chance of signing his first career pole position on the land of his team. Now, let's never forget that mechanical mishaps are part of the game in Formula 1 and that a yellow flag waved at the wrong time can cause surprises. A better time from Gasly in Q3 is paid 65,00, the same odds as a pole position. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Alexander albon (Redbull), Daniel Ricciardo (Renault), Esteban Ocon (Renault), Sergio Pérez (Racing Point), or even Daniil Kvyat (AlphaTauri). Brief, if you have to splurge, opt for Gasly!
