Racing Point: “It would be logical if there is no place” for Vettel in 2021

After Christian Horner and Red Bull, it’s Racing Point’s turn to leave the track Sebastian Vettel for 2021. On paper anyway.

Current owners of the team which will become Aston Martin in 2021, Sergio Pérez and Lance stroll both have a long-term contract with the Silverstone-based structure.

However, the contours of the Canadian's contract remain vague to say the least, where his Mexican teammate is linked to the former Force India team until 2022. Hence the persistent rumors around a possible mutual interest between Vettel and RacingPoint. Especially since the current level of performance of the RP20s suggests promising potential.

Asked at the FIA press conference this Friday to find out if the driver's candidacy Ferrari would be opposed to a “ not » firm, Otmar Szafnauer made remarks that were not as definitive as they seemed.

« It’s flattering that everyone thinks a four-time world champion should join our team., said the American. But maybe that’s just because our car is faster now.

We have long-term contracts with our two drivers, so it would be logical that there is no place ».

The day before, Vettel had made glowing remarks about Racing Point ahead of the Styrian Grand Prix.

« Regardless of my future, I find that Racing Point makes a very strong impression; they look in a good position this year, declared the German. I know part of the team well and have done so for a long time. They have a great opportunity to seize this season ».

The saga continues.
