Racing Point F1 adapts to coronavirus pandemic

Like all the stables F1 in this difficult period of confinement due to the coronavirus pandemic, Racing Point F1 has largely reduced its activity in recent days before temporarily lowering its curtain yesterday evening, in view of the latest measures taken by the British government, the Racing Point base is located at Silverstone.

“Our doors will be closed for at least three weeks, indicates the manager. As things stand – and it is important to emphasize that this is a constantly evolving situation – we will return to work on Thursday 16 April.

We have also worked very hard over the last few weeks to ensure that all staff who can work from home have the equipment they need to set up home offices. »

Szafnauer also believes that he has no visibility for the coming weeks, while the F1 calendar is currently postponed or canceled until mid-June and the Canadian Grand Prix.

“This is an unprecedented situation, which changes day by day, continues the Team Principal. Right now, we just can't say for sure when we'll get back to normal.

There are so many factors that are out of our control. With this in mind, another decision taken between the teams and the FIA was to delay the introduction of the new regulations until 2022.

From a logistical and financial perspective, this makes perfect sense. Of course, that doesn't mean we can afford not to hit the ground running when we return to work.

When we come back, we need to be able to be efficient, regardless of the regulations. There is still much work to be done and we will be ready to tackle it when the time comes. »

Remember that 2021 should see Racing Point F1 become the official team Aston Martin, after Lawrence's participation Stroll in the English brand earlier in the year.
