Racing Point responds to Renault's claim

The post-race of the Styrian Grand Prix was marked by the protest filed by Renault F1 Team towards Racing Point, the French team highlighting the fact that the brake ducts of the RP20s would not respect the sporting regulations and the annexes concerning the so-called listed parts.

A claim judged admissible by the sports commissioners and which will be studied in the days to come. A legal-regulatory battle on which Otmar Szafnauer’s team gave its point of view this Monday morning.

“BWT Racing Point F1 Team is extremely disappointed to see its results in the Styrian Grand Prix called into question by what it considers to be an ill-conceived and ill-informed protest, indicates the formation in a press release.

Any suggestion of an act contrary to the regulations is firmly rejected and the team will take all necessary measures to ensure the correct application of the regulations in the face of the facts. Before the start of the season, the team cooperated with the FIA and satisfactorily answered all questions regarding the origin of the RP20 designs.

The team is confident that the protest will be dismissed once they submit their response. »

Racing Point had already taken Renault into the technical dispute field in 2019, by filing a complaint against the French brand over a possible automatic brake distribution on the sidelines of the Japanese Grand Prix.
