Räikkönen: Ferrari does not have easy weekends

Kimi Räikkönen managed to take the last step of the podium at the Russian Grand Prix. If he was unable to threaten the Mercedes by Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton above the rest in Sochi, the 2007 world champion managed to maintain the advantage over the Williams de Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa.

“It's not exactly the result we hoped for because we want to win,” said Kimi Räikkönen. “My start went pretty well because I was able to overtake Valtteri (Bottas). I was not fast enough after the restart to resist Lewis Hamilton. I then had to manage the situation knowing that our car is not yet fast enough to resist the Mercedes. I couldn't push as hard as the cars in front of me because I had to conserve fuel. »

The Finn regrets that the Team Ferrari fails to improve its results. The abandonment of Sebastian Vettel prevented the Italian team from showing itself more at the forefront.

“We know what points we need to work on and developments are coming, but the Mercedes were very fast in recent years and they are again this season”, Iceman pointed out. “We haven't had a cloudless weekend yet and that doesn't help. We can't hope to beat a team like this in the current situation... We didn't manage to finish with both cars placed although we probably deserved to. So it’s disappointing…”
