After leaving the world F1 for two seasons to follow a career in WRC, Kimi Räikkönen returned to his first love by signing a contract with Lotus F1 Team for the 2012 season after returning to the world of racing in Nascar . The Finn took part in the first tests with the R30 and seems to be integrating well with the team. Nevertheless, the 2007 world champion keeps in mind his experience of rally and promises to return to this discipline one day.
“F1 represents something very special in my career”, assures the Finn. “The goal is always to race at the highest level, so if you have the choice, Formula 1 is the must in racing. When I went to do NASCAR, I rediscovered the pleasure of racing and I wanted to continue. I still want to race in rallying and if I could, I would do both programs at the same time. But that is not possible. For sure, I will come back to rallying in the future. But I had so much fun in NASCAR, facing my opponents directly, that I felt the desire to return to the circuits. It was at that moment that I realized how much I missed it and decided to come back, if a chance presented itself to do so in good conditions. »
