Kimi Räikkönen, after nine years of Formula 1, chose the WRC to continue his career. If his contract is only for one year at the moment, the Finn could very well continue his experience, especially if his 2010 season proves satisfactory. Iceman, however, confirmed to Autosport that he was not sure he would ever return to Formula 1.
« I have no contract in F1 so I have no idea what will happen, confides the Finn. I have two options, either continue rally or return to F1. I want to see how it will go, then I will decide. But I'm in no hurry to make my decision. »
After the officialization of the arrival of Kimi Räikkönen in the seat of a Citroën C4 WRC in the colors of Red Bull, Olivier Quesnel had made similar comments. The director of Citroën Racing affirmed that, if the Finn managed to show great skills, it was not impossible that he would continue the adventure with Citroën beyond 2010 (see elsewhere).
« If all goes well, I will be able to continue (in Rally), continues Iceman. There are many different scenarios. For now, it's just for this year, both with Red Bull and Citroën. » The results of Kimi Räikkönen at the wheel of the Citroën C4 WRC should therefore determine the return, or not, of the F1 world champion to the premier single-seater category.
