Räikkönen: “Pole guarantees nothing”

Kimi Räikkönen took pole at the Monaco GP, a first for the driver Ferrari since the 2008 French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours (Nièvre). If the Finn remained behind his teammate Sebastian Vettel in practice, he managed to increase his pace in qualifying to set the new lap record in 1'12''178 at the end of Q3, ahead of the four-time world champion by 43 thousandths.

“It’s clearly the best position to start tomorrow, but that doesn’t guarantee anything., warned Kimi Räikkönen. I take it with pleasure, especially since the weekend has gone well so far. We have been struggling in some areas. It got better in qualifying. It wasn't perfect but it can never be. »

“It was quite satisfying in the end and I was happy with the car, added Kimi Räikkönen. You can always be faster in certain places, but that's normal. I was able to attack and perform good qualifications. »

The start of the Monaco GP will be decisive for the victory as Scuderia Ferrari placed its two cars on the front row ahead of the Mercedes de Valtteri Bottas.

The start of the Monaco Grand Prix will be contested this Sunday from 14 p.m. and will be to follow exceptionally in live streaming on our website.
