Räikkönen tired of 2nd place before Hungary

After returning to the podium at the German Grand Prix, Kimi Räikkönen will arrive with confidence at the Hungaroring where he won in 2005. The 2007 world champion returned to the title race seven points behind Fernando Alonso, but is still looking for another victory after his success in Melbourne. The Finn hopes to put everything on his side to no longer end up in the exhausts as was still the case at the Nürburgring. “I have finished second too many times in Hungary (2003, 2007, 2009 and 2012), so I know how important it is to be in the lead at the first corner. With or without DRS, it is never easy to overtake on the Hungaroring. The practice sessions need to go well to have a good weekend, just like qualifying and the start. »

With the new Pirelli tires brought to the Hungarian Grand Prix which do not seem to fundamentally change the behavior of the cars (in view of the Silverstone tests), Kimi Räikkönen can hope for a good result. The Lotuses had once again proven their ease under the heat in Germany, while very high temperatures are expected this weekend in Budapest. “It’s a very slow and twisty circuit, so we need to focus on two important things: good corner entry and good traction. If we have that, we will have a car competitive for the race. You clearly have to start at the front, but also avoid starting on the dirty side of the track. Looking at the starts of previous races, it seems that the dirty part is a real disadvantage when the lights go out. »
