After a bad start at the Bahrain GP relegating him to the back Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes), Kimi Räikkönen was fighting for third place against Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes). But the Finn had to retire after stopping in the pits following an accident while changing a wheel.
The 2007 world champion was sent back to the track when his left rear tire could not be changed. Worse, the Finn hit a mechanic with his wheel. According to the indications of the Team Ferrari, the latter would suffer from a tibia-fibula fracture.

“I left when the light turned green, explained Kimi Räikkönen on Sky Sports. I can't see what's going on behind me. Unfortunately, I hit it, but my job is to leave when the light changes color. »
Following his retirement, Kimi Räikkönen is in fifth place in the Championship, 35 points behind his teammate Sebastian Vettel. The four-time world champion brought balm to the heart of Scuderia Ferrari by winning his second consecutive Grand Prix, allowing the Maranello team to keep the lead in the Constructors' Championship with ten points ahead of Mercedes.
The Scuderia mechanic has since given reassuring news about his state of health.
