Räikkönen: A serious threat at Spa

Kimi Räikkönen's skills have long been beyond doubt. Having once again come close to success in Hungary, the 2007 world champion signed his fifth podium of the season and currently occupies fifth place in the Championship with only one point behind Lewis Hamilton. Returning to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit where he won four times (2004, 2005, 2007 and 2009), the Finn knows that he will have a good chance of victory. “I have often had good results at the Belgian GP but what happened before does not help me today. However, things are looking good and a fifth victory at Spa would be magnificent. I didn't impose myself in the first part of the season and additional points are always good to take. »

If Kimi Räikkönen dreams of finding success in the Belgian Ardennes, he knows that to do so he will have to succeed in his qualifying session by starting from the front. Lotus F1 Team will therefore have to quickly find the right settings for the E20 despite the showers expected for the first day of testing. “Spa offers particularly demanding high-speed corners and makes finding the perfect set-up for the car”, insists Iceman. “As we have seen so many times this year, a good position on the starting grid is extremely important and this could also be decisive at Spa. It is vital to have a car with efficient aerodynamics to pass those fast turns. It's a long lap and you'll have to manage to maintain a good pace to set a fast time. So much can depend on the outcome of qualifying, we will have to quickly find the right settings on Friday and Saturday before putting in a performance in the afternoon in qualifying. Spa is my favorite circuit, I have loved it since my first visit in 2000 when I was racing in Formula Renault."
