Räikkönen will soon break Michael Schumacher's record

Kimi Räikkönen will this weekend become the 3rd most experienced driver in the history of the F1 by participating in his 308th Grand Prix in Sochi (Russia). After surpassing Jenson Button's record the previous week in Singapore, the 2007 champion is now preparing to surpass the performance of Michael Schumacher.

“I didn’t think I’d make it this far. I wanted to stop much sooner, confided the pilot Alfa Romeo who debuted in F1 in 2001. I was hoping to come back for a season or two, but things developed a little unexpectedly. I didn’t have a plan before and I still don’t have one today. We will try to do great things as long as we enjoy it by continuing to ride and we will see. »

Kimi Räikkönen could become the hardest-working driver in Grand Prix. The Finn is only 5 starts away from the record of Fernando Alonso and 16 starts from Rubens Barrichello.

“As long as I feel good behind the wheel and can do things, I’ll be happy to drive. I don't think it's incredible to have done so many races. The results are much more important to me than the other facts. Maybe it matters after you retire, but right now it doesn't matter to me.", he said.

Kimi Räikkönen won 21 times and was on the podium 103 times, or around one race in three.
