Räikkönen: Verstappen will cause a big accident

Max Verstappen was hopeful of securing a new podium at the Belgian Grand Prix where many Dutch people came to support the driver Red Bull. Starting on the front row, the winner of the Spanish GP fell in the standings after contact with Sebastian Vettel at the first corner, the German having sought to avoid a collision with Kimi Räikkönen.

The race for the three drivers became complicated, with Max Verstappen notably having to return to the pits to change his front wing. The Red Bull driver subsequently adopted an aggressive driving style, not hesitating to come into contact with several competitors. Kimi Räikkönen notably paid the price before saving a ninth place.

“I'm in favor of fighting, but I had to brake on the straight following the Eau Rouge to avoid hitting him because he was changing his trajectory after attempting a maneuver. I think this is not correct. Unfortunately there will be a big accident because of this. I don't have this problem with any other driver », commented the Finn.

Kimi Räikkönen, however, did not incriminate his teammate Sebastian Vettel, sixth in the Belgian Grand Prix, following their contact at the start of the race. “I haven’t seen the videos yet, it’s hard to say”, added the 2007 world champion.

Max Verstappen defended himself against criticism against him and preferred to point the finger at the contact with Sebastian Vettel at the start.

“Sebastian tried to pass both of us. It tore off my front wing and the flat bottom was also damaged. My race was already over from there”, declared the Red Bull driver who failed at the points gate before mocking Kimi Räikkönen's statements.

“He should have said that at the first corner. It's ridiculous, but it's always good TV when someone complains. I'm not going to give up my position to them so easily. If someone doesn't like it, that's their problem." retorted the paddock cadet.
