Räikkönen: “We aim for better results”

While Sebastian Vettel was expected at the forefront at the Bahrain GP, it was Kimi Räikkönen who gave “a tough time” for Mercedes. The pilot of the Team Ferrari took 2nd place by placing itself between the W06 Hybrids of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, after taking advantage of an error by the German in difficulty with his brakes.

The 2007 world champion implemented an aggressive strategy by taking medium tires in his second stint before finishing with a set of soft tires allowing him to catch up with Lewis Hamilton and secure his first podium since the 2013 Korean GP.

“We are never happy to finish 2nd but I am still a little satisfied to have better results after a difficult start to the season”, explains Kimi Räikkönen who started from 5th position. “I was coming back well at the end but I ran out of laps. We must be satisfied with this result after the one obtained in qualifying, but we aim for better results."

The results are nevertheless mixed for the Scuderia since Sebastian Vettel finished in 5th place after having to return to the pits to change his front wing.
