Räkkönen couldn't have hoped for more in Monaco

Romain Grosjean seemed more comfortable than his teammate Kimi Räikkönen on the Monaco circuit. But it was ultimately the 2007 world champion who won a place in Q3 and who climbed to fifth position on the grid while the Frenchman failed in a distant 13th place. In changing conditions making the qualifying sessions even more difficult, the Finn managed to do well.

“It was a complicated day because of the weather but it’s the same for all the drivers”, comments the winner of the 2005 edition. “Qualifying is never easy here with the traffic and the barriers and we always prefer when the track is dry. Fifth place was more or less the best result I could aim for since the car in front of me (the Red Bull by Mark Webber) is ahead of me by seven tenths. »

Kimi Räikkönen does not want to give specific objectives for the Monaco Grand Prix. The Finn does not seem convinced by the hierarchy established at the end of qualifying. “I'm not sure what result we'll get in the race. We don't yet have a clear picture because we never know everyone's strategies. But we'll see tomorrow. »
