He is now at the top of the rankings. This Sunday, starting the Singapore Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso became the driver with the most Grand Prix contested in the history of the Formula 1 with a total of 350, thus surpassing the 349 of Kimi Räikkönen until now record holder.

On the sidelines of the Singapore Grand Prix, the double world champion took the time to retrace his career in Formula 1 started in Australia under the colors of Minardi in 2001. Asked to choose his best performance in the race and in qualifying, Fernando Alonso went back a few years. From the time of Renault and his two world titles? Negative. The Asturian notably remembered two performances while he was riding for the Team Ferrari.

« The best race? I would say Valencia 2012 (European Grand Prix), he said. This victory in Valencia meant a lot to me. I started 11e after poor qualifying… Winning in Spain and with Ferrari… It was a bit unexpected. I think it was my best race in terms of performance."

Regarding qualifications, the current driver Alpine also focused on one of his performances from the 2012 season. Hockenheim, he confides. It was a competitive session in the wet. We weren't very good this weekend with Ferrari in the dry. He had a lot more before qualifying and we were on the maxi rain tires which are difficult to manage. I managed to achieve a trick that I was very proud of. I knew he could put me in pole position. I think this is my best lap in qualifying »
