Si Red Bull is still in the fight for the drivers' championship thanks to Max Verstappen, the Manufacturers' title should once again escape the Austrian team. The abandonment of Sergio Perez at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix almost buried the last hopes of Christian Horner and his team, relegated to 28 points with one round remaining. The last coronation won by the Taureau Rouge in this category dates back to 2013. Since then, Mercedes systematically won the day. According to the British leader, it would take an incredible turnaround for the world crown to escape the team led by Toto wolff.

“Our team put together a phenomenal campaign this year, we won 10 races. We took Mercedes – and who would have thought that this year – we took them to the final race. In the Manufacturers' Championship, we are behind, we need a miracle to win.”

The last Red Bull driver to be crowned world champion was Sebastian Vettel in 2013. The wait is starting to get long for the Milton Keynes team.

“Either Lewis or Max will be in the lead next weekend. It is in the drivers' championship that the prestige is found. For the team, ironically, the Manufacturers' Championship is very important from a fiscal point of view, but from a prestige and sporting aspect point of view, the Drivers' Championship is the most important.

The round in Abu Dhabi will be a final for Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, both tied on points (369,5) with an advantage for the Dutchman as he leads 9 to 8 in the number of Grand Prix victories this season.

“Look… we're going into the World Championship tied, we're in the lead thanks to race wins. It will be a straight fight, as it has been all year. Now Mercedes has won three rounds in a row, Max has won two before. Who will emerge victorious next weekend? I've no idea ».

The outcome of this crazy season of F1 will be this Sunday at 14 p.m. on the Yas Marina track in Abu Dhabi and the Grand Prix will be followed in live text on AUTOhebdo.fr.
