Red Bull expects significant developments from the Renault bloc

For the 2016 season, Red Bull Racing embeds in its RB12 a V6 turbo/hybrid Power Unit Renault, rebadged in the name of TAG Heuer, after a near-divorce with the French firm during the second part of the previous campaign.

With two fourth places to his credit in Australia then in Bahrain, Daniel Ricciardo is in third place in the championship having notably benefited from the successive setbacks of the drivers Ferrari. Enough to bring a smile back to Team Principal Christian Horner, after a more than complicated 2015 season in the Red Bull clan.

“Melbourne was a very positive race for us, comments Horner on the official website of the F1. Daniel did very well and the car was competitive throughout the race. The tire degradation was correct and the characteristic of this circuit suited us, because the importance of the engine is relative. The next races should be more complicated, until we get a significant Power Unit update. »

The boss of the Milton Keynes team, however, believes that Renault has the capacity to improve its Power Unit during the year, the Losange being the engine manufacturer having also spent the least development tokens during the off-season. « Over the last six months, they've really started to make progress. Now that they have their own team, their determination can only increase. »

Red Bull is also counting on the collaboration between Renault and Mario Illien to see clear developments arrive on the French block.
