Red Bull would have broken the pit stop record

It's not official but Red Bull already boasts of it. The Austrian team announces on its official website having repeatedly broken the world record for fastest pit stop, previously held by McLaren, during the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang.

During Mark Webber's second pit stop, on the 19th lap, the Austrian team's mechanics achieved their performance in 2,05 seconds. A time which, if it has yet to be approved, would easily beat the previous benchmark, set during the 2012 German Grand Prix by McLaren. That day, the Woking team changed Jenson Button's wheels in 2,31 seconds.

Better yet, the team led by Christian Horner believes it has broken this record not once, but five times during the Malaysian event! Thus, during the first two stints of Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel, the mechanics of the Austrian team did their duty in 2,13 seconds. In addition to the record announced when the Australian stopped, his two other pit stops would also be faster than the old reference: the third stop in 2,21 seconds, and the last in 2,26, XNUMX seconds. By revealing the news on its official website, Red Bull insists that the shutdown " perfect " did not take place, and that according to them, it is not impossible to see a pit stop go below the two-second mark this year. This is promising for the future.
