Red Bull had a good discussion with Volkswagen

Still looking for an engine supplier for 2016, Red Bull Racing has still not found a solution for the next season, notably after the failure of its negotiations with Mercedes.

A few days ago on the sidelines of the Russian Grand Prix, the Team Principal of the Milton Keynes team, Christian Horner even admitted that Renault could always be a solution. While the Volkswagen rumor had emerged for a while, the Briton confirmed at a press conference that discussions had indeed taken place.

« It is publicly known that there have been discussions with Volkswagen, but, with their current problems (the diesel engine emissions scandal), Formula 1 is probably the last thing on their minds. There is a lot of speculation about our situation at the moment. Once everything is finalized, everything will be clearer. » The Team Principal also admitted to doing everything to find a favorable outcome for 2016.

“(Leaving F1) is not an option for me. We have to find a solution, and I am working hard to make sure the team will be on the grid and competitive next year and beyond. » While subsequently recalling that the final decision would however remain in the hands of Dietrich Mateschitz, owner of the Red Bull brand.
