Red Bull begins 'running out of parts' after Gasly crash

To Pierre Gasly, the timing is clearly not ideal. Two weeks after regaining color at Silvertone, the Norman experienced a relapse in Baden-Württemberg during the opening day of the German Grand Prix.

With a quarter of an hour remaining in the second free session of the weekend, Gasly made a mistake in the last corner, damaging the left side of his Red Bull RB15. An incident which occurs a week after Sébastien Buemi, reservist for the Taureau Rouge, suffered a violent accident during the last Pirelli tests.

With the mine closed, Gasly did not stop in front of the journalists when he got out of the car and went straight to the debriefing.

“You could see it like me, he lost the car, replied Helmut Marko when asked what happened to the Rouennais. There was no problem with the car, he just lost control. I hope we can rebuild the chassis as we are starting to run out of parts. It is a problem ".

Performance-wise, Red Bull seems behind compared to the Ferrari et Mercedes. Max Verstappen points in fact to 0''684 of the reference time established by Charles Leclerc this Friday. However, the Dutchman was not worried when taking stock of his start to the German weekend.

“It was a decent day, confided Verstappen, who experienced a brief engine alert, without seriousness. We are a little behind Mercedes and Ferrari but closer than the times indicate. I couldn't complete my best flying lap with the softest tire. And this eraser really only works on one lap. The level of grip is no longer the same after that.”

The good doctor Marko also promised increasing competitiveness of the Honda-powered RB15s once the scorching temperatures hitting Hockenheim like the rest of Europe cool down.

“Wait and see what happens in qualifying, launched the former winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The weather conditions of the day were extraordinary and will not be repeated. We are not worried. The timesheet does not reflect the true potential of our package.”

Rain is also expected from Saturday above the Hockenheim-Ring.
