Red Bull plans to be operational in Bahrain

Red Bull Racing chose to put an end to its tough week of testing in Jerez at the end of which the RB10 was only able to complete 21 laps of the track. If Daniel Ricciardo left the pits this morning, the Milton Keynes team preferred to stop the race after encountering yet another mechanical problem.

“We did seven laps and we improved on engine control every time Daniel came out of the pits. We also resolved various issues », comments Andy Damerun, the racing engineering coordinator. “However, we then discovered a mechanical problem with the car and felt that we did not have the time necessary to resolve it in order to race this afternoon. We therefore decided to stop early, collect the collected data and prepare for the next tests in Bahrain (February 19 to 22). Two weeks is a long time in F1 and I am sure that Renault will work hard to resolve these issues. »

Christian Horner, who left Jerez for Milton Keynes last night with technical director Adrian Newey, is also optimistic for the next test sessions despite the good reliability displayed by the other engine manufacturers. “This practice session was very difficult”, admits the Team Principal of the reigning world champion team. “We have different problems with Renault and the cooling system, which has affected our progress. However, despite the lack of running, what we have learned allows us to believe that the problems should be resolved before the next session in Bahrain. »
