Should we still count Sergio Perez's difficult weekends? Or should we rather note when he produces a good one? The one in Qatar seemed promising after a stint in Q3. But Checo ruined everything by spinning on lap 38 as the Safety Car was about to pull out.
The Mexican could have calmly returned to the peloton and gone all the way. But his return to the track did not please the RB20. When releasing the clutch, it got too hot, " explained Christian Horner during his press briefing in Losail. A poor performance. One more in a list that is starting to become endless.
However, Sergio Perez does not seem worried about his future, having extended his contract until 2026. The Grand Prix come and go and his outings are all the same. I will still be here next year. » Really? Because at Red Bull, we are starting to lose patience. His few flashes of brilliance in the first seasons Milton Keynes are too far away and Checo appears practically indefensible. The only argument that can still defend him is probably that of money. But do the Austrians really need it? Not sure.
"We will see where we are after Abu Dhabi"
Publicly, the energy drink stable is smart and doesn't overwhelm him. But internally, besides its level gap with Max Verstappen, his cruel lack of performance is no longer acceptable. Which could push Red Bull to make a decision soon. At the end of the season in Abu Dhabi next weekend perhaps?
« Checo has had a very difficult season, and the standings show it, admits Christian Horner. We are trying to support him until the checkered flag in Abu Dhabi. It is far from a pleasant situation for Checo to find himself at the heart of speculation every week. He is mature and intelligent enough to know what is going on. We will see where we are after Abu Dhabi. »
A statement that suggests that the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix could be Sergio Perez's last race appearance with Red Bull. In the meantime, the team principal has invited its driver, whom it surprisingly defends against all odds, to " draw his own conclusions. Nobody is forcing him one way or the other (…) It is not a pleasant situation for him »

When will there be a new IVB (Interface Volant Baquet) in the second single-seater of Red Bull Racing? Red Bull has the means to break TexMex's contract ... but perhaps this dear Christian would prefer that it be the Board of Red Bull GmbH who decides in his place!!

What is Horner waiting for? For Perez to resign on his own? It wouldn't be so surprising, to save a severance payout...
