On the island of Montreal on Sunday, Red Bull wandered around again. The Austrian team signed its seventh victory of the season with the triumph of Max Verstappen. The Dutch driver had to work hard at the end of the race to resist the attacks of a Carlos Sainz in search of his first victory but the Spaniard never managed to find the opening leaving the world champion to once again stock up on points.

Already in qualifying, Max Verstappen was able to expand his record. At the wheel of his RB18, the 24-year-old driver took pole position on a 14th different track. In his career, it is only in Yas Marina (Abu Dhabi) that the reigning world champion has two starts from 1st place on the grid. In the best position to win in Montreal, the Dutchman inflated his statistics even further by converting his pole position into victory (15 poles/26 victories). Figures which contrast with the ratio of Charles Leclerc who has so many pole positions for only 4 victories, still in difficulty this season against the Red Bulls in the race.

Red Bull ahead of Lotus in Canada

Slightly worried during the Grand Prix by the other driver of the Team Ferrari, Max Verstappen once again left only crumbs to his opponents. This success allows him to add a little more to the legend of the Formula 1. In Baku, the Dutchman came back level with Jim Clark and Niki Lauda. This Sunday, he moved up two places in the list of victories in the premier category with this 26th trophy. While he was in 17th place alongside Mika Häkkinen (20 victories) before the start of the 2022 financial year, Max Verstappen can this season exceed the 32 victories of Fernando Alonso and get a little closer to the legend Ayrton Senna (41 victories).

With the “clinical driving” of Max Verstappen, Christian Horner could have a smile on his face at the finish of the Canadian Grand Prix. The team principal guided his team to victory for the 82nd time. The Austrian brand which made its appearance in 2005 in Formula 1 enters the Top 5 of the most victorious teams by taking the place of Lotus (81 victories).

Even if the eras are not comparable, Red Bull continues to assert itself as one of the best teams in Formula 1 and at Silverstone, Christian Horner's gang will try to extend its series by securing a 7th victory in a row. Since Melbourne (April 10), an RB18 driver has always managed to finish on the highest step of the podium.
