Red Bull lifts the veil on its RB11

Red Bull Racing waited until the last moment to present your RB11 in the Jerez paddock (Spain). The new car of Milton Keynes piloted by Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat sports a special livery reserved for testing which recalls the camouflage of grand tourer prototypes. Despite development delays, preparation of the Austrian car was completed on time.

“We had a very short schedule so that everything was ready for the first test session. But that's normal in this team. If you're not at the limit, you're not trying hard enough.", recalled Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing. « Our relationships with Renault are now narrower. Together we sought to better integrate the Power Unit with the chassis. »

Technical director Adrian Newey agrees. “We worked closely with Renault to develop the engine. I think it's fair to say that it was our Achilles heel last year. Renault is aware of this and we have sought to correct the situation. The association between the engine in combination and the ERS and the turbo is very complicated to implement. If a team takes the advantage on this field, it becomes very difficult to catch up. »

The Red Bull RB11 unsurprisingly resembles its older sister, with the technical regulations being similar to last year. “There are some changes up front but most modifications are under the body », confirmed Rob Marshall, Red Bull’s chief engineer. “We identified areas where we needed to improve. You can't see much with the naked eye but a lot of work has been done underneath. »
