Red Bull failed to reach its full potential in qualifying

Struggling yesterday with Ferrari, Red Bull was unable to materialize this Saturday in Brazil against the Italian team, and to be the closest to Mercedes, who dominated the session with pole position Valtteri Bottas. A disappointing result for Max Verstappen et Daniel Ricciardo, especially since the latter will have to observe a penalty of ten places after the replacement earlier in the weekend of his MGU-H.

« I think we maximized the qualifying result but we weren't fast enough, sighs Verstappen. In general, the pace was not good enough throughout the weekend. Daniel and I researched the balance of the car and we could never find the full grip and potential. »

The RB13 equipped with the block Renault seems behind against Mercedes and Ferrari on the Interlagos track and its long, fast sections, but Jos Verstappen's son believes that Red Bull can still progress.

" NOTWe're losing a lot of time on the straights here but I think there's also a tenth or two we could have found, specifies the winner of Mexico. I didn't expect to beat Ferrari and Mercedes on this track because it's not the best for us, but I expected to be a little closer. »

Author of an exceptional race last year in the rain, the Dutchman does not hide the fact that help from the elements could only be beneficial for the structure of Milton Keynes, but without having too many illusions given the forecasts for Sunday.

« Maybe I'll say some prayers tonight. I think we were better on the soft tires in qualifying today but I'm sure something was wrong with the last set of supersofts I had in Q3 because I had vibrations as soon as I left the stands.

It was a little frustrating because I didn't really feel like I could work perfectly. We're starting with the softs in the race so I hope that helps us. »

Ricciardo will have to quickly watch his mirrors with the expected rise in Lewis Hamilton, who will start last after his qualifying accident. « I have to try to get back through the field and I think we will have a good car for the race.

Lewis starts behind me so we'll see :sIf the Mercedes is as fast as it has been all weekend, maybe I'll see if we can put a bumper on the front of Lewis' car and have him push me through the pack . » jokes the Red Bull driver.
