Red Bull more confident for the future after Verstappen extension

With the successive extensions of Charles Leclerc et Max Verstappen, Ferrari et Red Bull have secured part of their future and secured the two most promising talents of the F1.

Two signatures which come at a time when the end of 2019 was marked by rumors of discussions between Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari. In the event of possible transfers of the world champion to Maranello, Mercedes would have been forced to find a replacement, which could upset a lot of things for Red Bull according to Helmut Marko.

“[This extension] is a very important step for us, confesses the team advisor to Auto Motor und Sport. We can now look to the future with more confidence.

To be honest, we had a hard time guessing what was wrong with the story between Ferrari and Hamilton. But it's also clear that Mercedes must act if Hamilton goes to Ferrari in 2021. And Max would have been the No.1 target. »

With a Honda V6 turbo / hybrid Power Unit in constant progress, and a strong end to the 2019 season from Max Verstappen, third in the general classification, Red Bull Racing can build on this base for 2020, before thinking about the big change of 2021 on the technical plan.

A key moment when Milton Keynes will be able to rely, barring a turnaround, on its Dutch prodigy.
