Red Bull Racing lifts the veil on the RB12

After presenting its new livery, Red Bull Racing lifted the veil on its new RB12 just before the start of the first winter testing session held at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona from Monday 22 to Thursday 25 February. The new car de Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat keeps the Power Unit of Renault even if the 6l V1.6 turbo / hybrid has been rebadged Tag Heuer.

“The late decision by the engine manufacturer taken last year forced the team to work extra hard during the winter to catch up”, underlined Team Principal Christian Horner who saw his team not record any victory in 2015. “Our hopes are to improve on our progress made in the second half of the season. We hope to get closer to our direct opponents by taking advantage of the performances coming from the Power Unit. »

“With the stability of the regulation, it is difficult to find predominant sectors to exploit”, continued technical director Adrian Newey. “Our priority was to obtain a coherent package with all the elements: the suspension, the chassis dynamics, the aero… so that they work in harmony. I think we have learned the lessons from last year and all our simulations indicate that this season's chassis will perform well. »

Rob Marshall, the director of engineering, shares the optimism of the famous British engineer. “I hope we can win some races. It might be a little far-fetched after what we saw last season, as we struggled at the start of the year, but we hope to benefit from a renewed strength to raise our level of play."

Daniel Ricciardo will take the wheel of the RB12 during winter testing for the first two days before giving way to his teammate Daniil Kvyat.
