During the German Grand Prix last Sunday, Mark Webber was released onto the circuit by a mechanic when a wheel nut was loose. The Australian lost his wheel while leaving, injuring a cameraman working in the pit lane. The error came from a mechanic having indicated too early to his team that the maneuver had been carried out, the gun having slipped from his hands.
After being punished with a fine of €30, Red Bull Racing therefore immediately changed this gun in order to optimize safety by reducing the risk of mishandling. In defense of the mechanic in question, remember that a wheel change takes place in two seconds. The cameraman is expected to fully recover from his injuries (broken collarbone and ribs).
