Red Bull surprised by Williams and McLaren at Hockenheim

Red Bull Racing could hope to benefit from Lewis Hamilton's accident to place at the front of the grid for the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim. But the RB10s of Daniel Ricciardo et Sebastian Vettel were beaten by the Williams de Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa, as well as by McLaren de Kevin Magnussen, which were closest to the Mercedes de Nico Rosberg.

Daniel Ricciardo can still be satisfied with his performance since he is once again ahead of his teammate Sebastian Vettel. “It wasn't too bad today although we would have liked to get a better position, but my lap was quite good”, comments the winner of the Canadian Grand Prix. “I made good progress between Q2 and Q3 and so I can't complain too much about my time, but the team is still a little behind. We know Mercedes are competitive, but the Williams showed great performance, as did Kevin's McLaren. We must continue to work even if we have done our best. The race should be close in the first eight places and the podium will be hotly contested. »

Sebastian Vettel is obviously frustrated since he again lost to his teammate in qualifying for his national event. “We had an option on the car that didn't work out as we would have liked. The car was better than this morning and I was quite happy with it. But I didn't manage to get a good lap on my last attempt. Williams didn't seem as competitive yesterday, they surprised us by making so much progress. But they have performed very well in the last few races and I think we can expect the same from them tomorrow. »
