Red Bull to request review of Hamilton penalty

After the battle on the track, Mercedes et Red Bull are engaged in a legal battle. The Austrian team has just requested a new examination of the penalty of Lewis Hamilton following the clash between the Briton and Max Verstappen, causing the Dutchman to retire at Silverstone.

Red Bull is thus making use of its right of review provided for in article 14 of the FIA International Sporting Code. It then allows a competitor to request re-examination of a decision of the sports commissioners provided that he presents “a new, significant and relevant element which was not available to the parties filing the appeal at the time of the Competition in question. »

The names and positions of all persons who intend to appeal must be provided in writing by this Wednesday to the Commissioners' office. Both parties will be heard this Thursday at 16:00 p.m. (French time) via videoconference.
Mercedes and Red Bull will meet again this weekend (in real life this time) at the Hungaroring for the eleventh round of the championship.
