It was a wish from Red Bull at the end of 2010, it is now almost a certainty: the Milton Keynes team will run its new car during the first pre-season testing session.

Red Bull to launch RB7 in Valencia

Red Bull Racing, who missed the first winter testing session in 2010, does not want to start on the same track in 2011. Even if it means working extra hard, the Milton Keynes team wants to see the RB7 on the track from the beginning of February , in Valencia, for the first test session. Other teams have not made this choice, like McLaren, which will not present its MP4-26 the day after the Valencia tests.

In 2010, Red Bull wanted to give Adrian Newey more time to design the car before launching it on the track. This year, due to the arrival of the new Pirelli tires and their interaction with the car, RBR wants to store as much information as possible during pre-season testing.

So, Milton Keynes is doing everything to ensure that the RB7 is in Valencia. “We are on time for the first tests,” said Christian Horner, team principal, to autosport.com. It will be very tense to be there and ready on time but that?s our goal. We will confirm our launch details soon. »

Thus, Red Bull wants to start 2011 with the best weapons and gain an advantage over the competition. Due to the later arrival of their 2011 cars, other teams, such as McLaren and Force India, will send their old F1 in Valencia. They thus wish not to lose information on the behavior of the tires, while testing new products on their single-seaters.
