Renault plans to do better in 2015

Mercedes did not do well with the arrival of the 6l V1.6 turbo / hybrid in F1. From the winter tests, Brixworth Power Units (Great Britain) proved to be above the rest. The Brackley team (GB) finally dominated the 2014 season with a duel between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg after which the Briton finally emerged victorious.

Conversely, Renault et Ferrari are having a hard time catching up. With its four client teams (three in 2015 following the departure of Lotus F1 Team to Mercedes, or even only two if Caterham F1 Team does not return), the Losange was nevertheless able to accumulate data and save honor with three victories of Daniel Ricciardo. But the engine manufacturers competing with the star manufacturer will need a thaw in engine development to be able to catch up with the German blocks.

The structure of Viruses-Châtillon (Île-de-France) saw its Renault Energy F1-2014s complete more than 90km on the track. This distance averages 11250km per driver, which is equivalent to 37 times the distance of a Grand Prix. If Daniil Kvyat retired during the last Abu Dhabi GP which closed the season, the Russian was still the third most diligent driver this season. One of the French Power Units managed to exceed the 4300km mark.

“Of course, we are not in the habit of aiming for second place in the “Constructors” ranking, but this result shows that we attacked until the end without ever stopping improving”, said Cyril Abiteboul, the managing director of Renault Sport F1 who held the position of Team Principal of Caterham F1 Team in the first part of the season. “It is obvious that we now have a substantial work program ahead of next season. However, we also have a clear vision, know exactly where to focus our efforts, and will come back determined to play for victory many more times in 2015."
