Renault intends to “compete with Williams” at the Chinese GP

With the four single-seaters Red Bull in the top ten at the Malaysian GP, Renault Sport F1 was able to raise his head after a complicated start to the season in Melbourne (Australia). The engine manufacturer of Viruses-Châtillon now intends to take a little more risk to face the Shanghai route (China) which notably offers a straight line 1300m long.

“Performance has also improved at Sepang even if we keep some in reserve to ensure optimal reliability”, comments Rémi Taffin, Renault Sport F1 operations director. “Now that we are more confident in this regard, we will be able to take a more aggressive approach. We should therefore record better results in a straight line and achieve a higher top speed. »

Renault Sport F1 clearly has increasing objectives for the Chinese GP. « Toro Rosso has proven that their car is basically good and the drivers are confident. As for Red Bull, they should have resolved the issues they encountered at Sepang. Given the improvements made… we hope to be able to compete with the Williams and score big points in Shanghai », concludes Rémi Taffin.
