Renault unveils its RS 18

A few hours later Alfa Romeo Sauber, it's the turn of Renault to reveal to the public its next car, RS18. Like last year, the front half of the car is adorned with yellow while black occupies a large part of the F1, between the cockpit and the rear wing.

Among the technical changes, the Halo is present, but painted black it is less recognizable than the version affixed to the Alfa Romeo Sauber C37. The shark fin has been replaced by a shorter edge. The pontoons appear less visually worked than the versions Red Bull ou Williams ; the element baptized by Renault's marketing services "aerocat" is there. Be careful though, the RS18, like all its comrades, is still in development and could have other aerodynamic elements by the Australian Grand Prix at the end of March.

Bob Bell, the Director of Technology for diamond training, explains the reinforced synergy between the entities of Viry-Châtillon (Essonne) and enstone (Britain). “It’s a long-standing relationship since we were together a long time ago. It is still growing and more and more topics are being studied together. We don't just install the engine in the car, we also talk about engineering techniques, methodologies and management of the supply chain between the two sites. We are also working much more closely with Viry to anticipate needs and agree on the main elements of our future cars. »

« (At Enstone) many areas benefit from increased capacity. We have a new state-of-the-art CFD supercomputer. Our wind tunnel also received a significant update last year. The new gearbox will be operational before the start of the season. These three elements give us enormous potential. The entire organization is growing with more talent to accelerate our pace of development. Since the takeover by Renault, Enstone has progressed enormously and is perfectly following the defined trajectory spanning several years. »
