Renault in better position according to Rémi Taffin

The 3 last December, Renault confirmed what AUTOhebdo had been reporting for many weeks: its presence as a full-fledged team in 2016, via the acquisition of Lotus F1 Team. An expected decision which should mark a return to the forefront of the Losange.

Having struggled with its Power Unit during the first two seasons with the new regulations in force, Renault nevertheless believes it has learned a lot after spending its year trying to reduce the gap separating it from Mercedes et Ferrari.

“This cocktail of particular problems allowed us to learn a lot and ensure that this will not happen again in the future, specifies Rémi Taffin, Operations Director of Renault Sport F1 on the discipline's site. We are in a much better position that we were at this same point last year, that's for sure. »

The Frenchman also returned to the work started with Ilmor. “We will continue to develop internally, but with partners such as Ilmor we will have greater vision, richer experience and expertise. We did not see the full extent of this collaboration in 2015 for various reasons, but these are now within our control and we have clearer direction and we should see more coming from this in 2016 and beyond. »
