Renault hopes to regain its level in Singapore

After missing out on points at the Italian GP on September 1 at Monza, Renault Sport F1 Team plans to return to the top ten this weekend at the Marina Bay circuit in Singapore. The French team is counting on the capabilities of the R.S 17 to climb into the first part of the peloton on this urban route which should suit it well.

“It’s already a radically different circuit compared to Monza and the high downforce package required is almost the opposite of that used recently. This should suit us quite well, comments Nick Chester, technical director of Renault Sport F1 Team. There are many things to be wary of with the tight turns, the imposing curbs and the need to have a lot of traction. This makes the settings quite difficult to define. We hope to return to our level of performance seen in Great Britain, Hungary and Spa (Belgium). »

Renault Sport F1 Team had already managed to finish in the points in 2016 with tenth place taken by Kevin Magnussen.

« Williams is in fifth place in the Manufacturers' Championship with only 21 points ahead of us with seven races still to go, Note Cyril Abiteboul, the director of Renault Sport Racing. We are clearly in a position to threaten them until the end of the season. We need to get consistent results by consistently having both cars in the top ten. »

In order to achieve this, Renault Sport F1 Team could replace Jolyon Palmer with Carlos Sainz Jr from the Malaysian GP.
